Michael Devoy & Company Ltd
What does Michael Devoy & Company Ltd do?
Michael Devoy and Company limited has been a family business of cabinet makers for the past 40 years. The core people in the business are Michael, with 40 years experience, Conor, with 25 years, and Ruairí with 15 years.

What products / services do you supply / provide?
Thankfully, considering the current situation, we have never pigeon holed ourselves in one category, we make both commercial and high end domestic furniture. On the commercial side of things we fit out offices, hotels, restaurants and provide a total turnkey shop fitting service. On the domestic side, we provide bespoke kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, living room furniture and libraries.

Who would be a typical client of Michael Devoy & Company Ltd?
Typically we work with designers and architects. We find it extremely beneficial if we can be there at the inception of a project. That way we can facilitate the design process by proposing practical solutions that achieve the desired aesthetic.

Who have you worked with to date?
I wouldn’t like to mention our private clients by name but our public clients include the RIAI, An Bord Pleanála, Assay Office, National Concert Hall, National Library, AIB, Eircom, Nestle, John Taylors manshop, Bridgewater Quay shopping centre and the K Club.

What is unique about Michael Devoy & Company Ltd?
One of the things that we pride ourselves on is being a family business; a family member is always available to our customers and will have an answer for you. When you deal with Michael Devoy you are not dealing with faceless factory or a salesman on commission. You’re dealing with a real family who cares enough to put it’s name on it’s product.

Bespoke furniture is a personal thing; you have to trust the person you are dealing with. The reason we’re still in business after 40 years is because architects, interior designers and private clients know they can trust in us to deliver quality furniture every time. And it’s these people that are calling us at the moment and still have business.

What does the future hold for Michael Devoy & Company Ltd?
We are hopeful for the future. One of the main reasons we got involved with the IA was to help stem the flow of pseudo “interior designers” creeping into the industry. We also believe that it’s for small companies to support one another during the current economic downturn. It will be these relationships that will serve us all well in the future.
